LOS ALPES
Janson Coffee farm is a family owned Hacienda established in 1941, originally a cattle farm, by Carl Axel Janson an immigrant from Sweden. Our coffee plantations are located on the Talamanca Mountain Range on the slopes of Tisingal and Baru volcanoes, the average altitude is between 1350 and 1700 meters, volcanic soil.

We have our own nursery where we select specialty grade arabica seeds for our seedlings: green tip Geisha, Catuai, Caturra and Pacamara.
In our farms quality production with harmony is our goal. We keep a balance of nutrients in the soil using enzyme microorganisms, no pesticides, no herbicides among others. The farms are micromanaged in lots for traceability and quality control. Plantations are separated by forest which serve as natural barriers against pests and also protect the natural flora and fauna of the region.

The environment is important for us. 400 solar panels produce the energy for our Farm and Plant, plus all excess matter from our processing is reused as fuel or fertilizer. Seeds from our forests are planted in our nursery for reforestation and protection of our water resources. Water from our springs is used for our wet process. We are 100% committed to improving and protecting our environment.

Our beneficio (processing plant) was built in 1993, designed exclusively for specialty coffee, including several selections to be able to separate coffee by quality and origin. We do natural and washed processes by using updated technology combined with artisanal methods to obtain the best quality.

All our premium coffees go through traditional drying preparations plus hand selection. Lot 743 is a 96 hours natural anaerobic fermentation from Los Alpes farm, which is located on the Talamanca Mountain range of westernmost Panama, NW of the Baru Volcano, same mountain of the La Amistad International Park (Unesco World Heritage site).

The rich volcanic soil and unique microclimate combined with optimal care of the geisha plants help us produce coffee berries which are followed by a conscious selection and process results on high quality coffee. The Janson coffee farm is actually run by the first and second generation of Janson family members. Constantly focusing on improving quality, we have earned several BOP awards with our coffee being always among the best, in the competition.
