Chirripó micro-region is getting itself a place in the specialty coffee scenario, thanks to its high altitude from 1.300 meters to over 2.000 meters, the richness of the soils and fresh environment. It is located between two very high mountains: Cerro de la Muerte (3.491m.) and Cerro Chirripó (3.820m.) the highest in Costa Rica, the influence from these mountains create a unique microclimate where coffee grows healthy and influences positively in the production and processing of it.
Recent years have shown the potential of specialty coffee the Chirripó micro-region has, this has contributed to an increase on land planted with coffee and incorporation of different varieties, and we project it will continue increasing in the coming years.

Café Rivense del Chirripó is a family micromill founded by Régulo Ureña and Isabel Rojas in 2005, located in the southern part of Costa Rica, in the Brunca region settled in a micro-region called Chirripó.

The quality of the coffee has been recognized with different awards in the Cup of Excellence competition, being the best position achieved number 5 in COE 2019, with the microlot Vista al Chirripó Caturra Honey.

The farm is managed with a sustainable system, focused on reduce carbon footprint in the environment: proper shade management to provide organic material to soil and keep coffee trees fresh; fertilize based on annual soil analysis; use of herbicide in specific plots with strong grasses; all the water sources are protected and through the farm there are fruit trees to feed wildlife.

The coffee is picked when the cherries are ripest, pulped in a process completely dry (no water used to transport or pulp the coffee) to keep mucilage full and clean, sun dried on rise beds, patios and static mechanical drier, milled and classified with high quality standards, package and export from the farm to guarantee traceability of the products.
