Young Estate, Illustrious Lineage
Gato Grande: Panamanian Excellence All Their Own
Two harvests young, Gato Grande Coffee Forest is a resolute & gorgeous beginning, grounded in legacy and growing in possibilities.
Jean Paul Langenstein Wachter and his wife, Yessie Hartmann, founded Gato Grande Coffee Forest in Tierras Altas, Chiriquí four years back, with the vision of making their own contribution to Panama’s coffee heritage and future.
While Jean Paul brings over 15 years of professional experience in the coffee industry, Yessie, an agricultural engineer and coffee grower, carries forward the legacy of her family, the Hartmanns, who have been instrumental in shaping Panamanian coffee excellence for generations.
This time around, we’ve been fortunate to be entrusted by Jean Paul and Yessie with two rare lots from their second harvest, Geisha Washed Cold Ferment with gossamer florals and a sweet, crisp, and subtly syrupy character, alongside Geisha Natural Cold Ferment, which presents a more intensely floral and sweet, succulent and silky cup.
