Geishas with a View
Finca Sophia: Growing with the Forest
In every cup from Finca Sophia, you’re tasting a place in motion — a view, a climate, and a practice unfolding together. Coffee grown at 2,175 masl in the volcanic soils of Nueva Suiza, Volcán Barú, Panama that carries its own clarity, shaped by a farm’s devotion to the land that sustains it.
Founded in 2008 through the shared vision of Willem Boot, Helen Russell, and David Pohl, Finca Sophia began as an expression of ecological intention. Theirs was a commitment to cultivating excellence through methods that honour the environment. Guided by farm manager and legacy grower Kelly Hartmann, the farm restored five hectares of land along the edge of Parque Internacional La Amistad.
With each endeavor, they allow the landscape to guide the farm like the farmers guide the crop.
Over the years, this quiet attention has shaped coffees that continue to stand out at the Best of Panama, most recently earning 2nd place in Geisha Washed and 3rd in Geisha Natural in the 2025 iteration. Another chapter in a lineage of recognition dating back to 2017.
This is Panamanian coffee shaped by care, place, and longstanding devotion. And it comes in four spectacular variations that deserve to be savored — together.
