Nature Takes the Lead

Black Moon Farm: Stewardship and Cultivation

When given the chance, nature knows how to heal — especially when guided by thoughtful hands like those of SCA Panama President Hunter Tedman.

At Black Moon Farm Panama in Alto Quiel, Boquete, Hunter allowed the rainforest to lead. The result is a regenerative agriculture project that proves environmental stewardship doesn’t just protect the land: it elevates the coffee it produces.

Great coffee begins with a healthy ecosystem. Careful post-processing through precise fermentation and drying simply amplifies what’s already extraordinary. That philosophy earned Black Moon 1st Place in the Varietal category at the 2024 Best of Panama, alongside the highest price ever achieved in that bracket.

The newest Black Moon lots embody this approach. First, Chiroso Natural Lot 65 with its layered sweetness of blueberry, jackfruit, lychee, molasses, and chocolate. Followed by, Geisha Washed Lot 26, offering an elegant expression of bergamot, Earl Grey, coffee flower, white grape, and pear. And lastly, Geisha Natural Anaerobic Lot 15, bursting with tropical vibrancy — lanzones, blueberry, peach, lychee, and rose.

Like the land that shaped them, these coffees are a reset: vivid and deeply nourishing. Each sip evokes nature at its most untouched.
