The Family Fun of Panamanian Coffee
Altieri Specialty Coffee: A Legacy of Connection
In 2005, Italian-American entrepreneur Eugene Altieri purchased two farms in Boquete, Panama, beginning a new familial legacy. Since then, Altieri Specialty Coffee has proven that — just like with family — great coffee is never grown alone.
Now that Eugene has stepped back, his children carry the vision forward, working with a team of coffee professionals to unlock Altieri Specialty Coffee’s full potential. Here, family and quality move in tandem.
Their two farms, Pipim Estates in Alto Lino and Mima Estates in Alto Quiel, are divided into 11 plots based on elevation and microclimate. Each plot is named for one of Eugene’s grandchildren, growing expressive Panama Geishas, Catuais, Typicas, and Caturras that carry the promise of the next Altieri generation.
This familial passion has earned consistent recognition at the Best of Panama, including 13th place in Geisha Natural and 10th place in Varietal during in 2025.
Our four newest coffees from them — part of our Competition Series — reveal why Altieri Specialty Coffee stands among Panama’s finest. From Chombi 080425 to Alessa 190325, expect a playful spectrum of fresh fruit, flowers, and candy. Each sip is a reminder that continuity and care play on the palate.
