Family as the Heart of Ethiopian Coffee

Oboleyan Coffee: Brewing Brotherhood

Built by brothers, with family at its heart, Oboleyan Coffee cultivates opportunities for the Guji region’s coffee-farming families who nurture the soil and take care of the coffee trees, to elevate the potential & the value of their coffee cherries year after year.

When Ethiopia’s coffee trade opened to private citizens in 2018, Tariku Edema turned a business opportunity into a way to support coffee-growing families. Named after the local word for “brother,” Oboleyan reflects the bond between its founders and extends it to their partner farmers.

Their washing stations in Guji Zone receive coffee from neighboring farmers, carefully preparing traditionally and experimentally processed lots that resonate with diverse coffee-lovers across the globe. This three-lot release opens up to exploration of Guji coffees’ multifaceted potential, made to shine across three categories in our collection.

In our Microlot Collection, Hambela Benti Nenka Classic Natural Lot 2 layers juicy stone fruit with tropicality and sticky sweetness. In Microlot Reserve, Hambela Dimtu Haro Highborn Project, a Classic Natural uplifts with its sweet, summer fruit ripeness balanced by crisp acidity and hint of effervescence. Meanwhile in our Competition Series,  Highborn Project – Natural Anaerobic unfolds with the complexity of a well-crafted dessert, with notes of peach cobbler, mango, blueberry, pineapple, and cantaloupe.
