2024 Costa Rica Cup of Excellence 1st Placer & Tarrazu Trailblazer
Café Solis y Cordero: Innovating to Achieve Renewed Specialty Coffee Ambitions
Imbibe summer-time optimism with the uplifting ingenuity of fascinating flavors from 2024 Cup of Excellence 1st Placer, Café Solis y Cordero.
Intent on surmounting the far-reaching constraints that have made it imperative and not just tempting for a number of traditionally coffee-farming families to turn away from agriculture altogether, Ivan Solis and his family have been rooting more deeply into their country’s coffee heritage, while rising up to the challenge of taking its distinctive coffees into a flourishing future through innovations that result in singular cup profiles.
The depth and impact of their efforts have been recognized at Costa Rica’s Cup of Excellence two years in a row now and are entrenching Costa Rica as a higher-end specialty coffee origin producing country in our global specialty coffee community’s collective sensory memory and imagination — including ours and no doubt yours too.
With coffees cultivated at Finca Voo, Ivan Solis, his wife Leandra Cordero, and their brood of three won 1st place at the 2024 Costa Rica Cup of Excellence Experimental Category, a remarkable ascent from taking the Top 2 rank in 2023 Overall.
Ivan and Leandra named Finca Voo after the Portuguese word for flight. As such, it’s their young family’s launchpad for cultivation and post-harvest processing ideas they envision would propel their coffees toward a finely differentiated stature and, along with it, the global specialty coffee community’s esteem for top-tier lots from Tarrazu and Costa Rica as a provenance of singular higher-end specialty coffees.
With new coffees from the family that won the 2024 Cup of Excellence 1st Place after clinching Top 2 in 2023, drink into the promise of delicious triumphs sure to follow tireless persistence through tough times, transforming setbacks into victories. Get your share here, now!
