Hartmann Reserve is the latest project of Ratibor Jr. & Tessie Hartmann’s, a continuation of Finca Hartmann’s rich legacy that goes beyond the production of elite lots. Inspired by Ratibor Sr.’s collection of indigenous artifacts, Hartmann Reserve aims to integrate an archaeological perspective in the experience of creating exquisite coffees, by treating coffee itself & the practices that support its continuity as living records of the land’s evolving history.

It belongs to the esteemed Finca Hartmann coffee lineage, established in the 1900s as a shadegrown coffee plantation in the rainforest highlands of Tierras Altas and recognized among the topmost auction lots at the Best of Panama through the years. Alongside Hartmann family farms Guarumo, Ojo de Agua, Santa Clara, Mi Finquita, & the newest, Gato Grande, Hartmann Reserve is animated by the same ethos of ecological conservation while boldly evolving explorations of terroir that will translate to singular attributes in the cup.

Hartmann Reserve ventures further by framing coffee as a vessel of the land’s past, its present expression, & an intimation of its future potential, as shaped by time, nature, & human craftsmanship.

Panama Geisha is a rare, delicate, and complex variety well-loved for its sweet florality and citrus highlights. Since its debut win at the Best of Panama auction in 2004, it has kept specialty coffee lovers everywhere captivated by its endless possibilities, delicacy, complexity, and clarity of flavors.

As such, it is often showcased on coffee competition stages by a great number of coffee champions, and it also continues to fetch the highest prices.

While a coffee’s truest intrinsic qualities are still largely believed to be showcased best by traditional washed processing due to the demucilaging, washing, and scrubbing steps removing all traces of fruit from the bean, the expertise of seasoned and passionate producers like Maria Ratibor & Hartmann Family allows them to direct the flavor character of the Panama Geisha towards a seemingly endless diversity of delightfully surprising trajectories.

They do this through the purposeful implementation of traditional methods like the natural and honey processes, as well as intentional and innovative processing styles.
