MITIKU ALEMAYEHU, TEBE HARU WACHU
Uraga is one of the Woredas(subcity) in the Oromia region of Ethiopia which is part of the Guji zone. Uraga is bordered by Odo Shakiso on the south, the Borena zone from the west, the southern Nations from the North and Bore from the East. The largest town in Uraga is Solomo.
Tebe Haro Wachu is the name of the washing station in Uraga village own by Mitiku Alemayehu, this coffee has become such a consistently delicious mainstay and this year's lots are tasting as good as ever.
Coffee producers/farmers deliver their ripe cherries to the washing station where the cherries are sorted and pulped with absolute care. After pulping, the beans are fermented for 36 to 48 hours and then washed. The wet beans in parchment are placed on raised drying beds in thin layers and turned every 2 to 3 hours during the first few days of the drying process. Depending on weather, the beans are dried for 12 to 20 days until the moisture in the coffee beans is reduced to 11.5 percent. Then this beans are transported to Addis Ababa, the capital, to be milled and bagged prior to export handled by the team of Tadesse Desta.
